Car Stereo Amplifier- Speaker-Head Deck-Subwoofer ratio?
Ok i just got my first car and i wood like to upgrade the stereo system... i dont understand how to choose a package though...if i buy a 1200 watt amplifier do i need to get 1200wat speakers but then they dont come in 1200 watt packages??? so does that mean that ll of my components have to ad up to the power output of the amp (1200 watts) for example for a 1200 amp a 200 watt head deck, a 500 wat sub and then 400 watt speakers... please help so confused and sry if i confused you people more with my question.

You need to match your amp's RMS watts with your speaker's RMS watts. RMS is continuous power. Max watts don't really mean much just how much it can handle if it spikes. Don't use the head unit's watts just the amp's. Make sure the amp has a crossover built in. 4 way amp for 4 speakers with RMS power matching the speakers RMS power. Then a sub woofer class D mono block amp with RMS power matching the sub woofer's RMS power. This is the ideal setup.
